Welcome to  Fin5 Orienteering Week 2010 in Imatra and Ruokolahti. The orienteering week is organised by  the orienteering club SK Vuoksi.

General Information
Fin5 Orienteering Week 2010 is arranged in Imatran and Ruokolahti. The Event Centre is located in Imatra city and the Competition Centre in northern part of Ruokolahti commun, in Jukajärvi village. The competition area is about 40 square kilometers and is first time used for orienteering competitions since over 50 years. The region, South Carelia, is famous of numerous lakes, Lake Saimaa, Vuoksi river and Imatrankoski Rapids.

Maps
Maps are printed in 6/2010, the scale 1:10 000 and contour interval 5 m. Map sizes are A3S, A3, A4 ja A5. More detailed information will be available in event instructions.
In WRE Sprint Event the map scale is 1:4 000 and contour interval 2 m, map size A4. The control code will be printed in maps beside the control number  (1 - 31).

 

Punching system
The punching system is Emit. If you have your own Emit card, the Emit card number must be presented when registrating. Organizers will reserve rental Emit cards for those having not notified their Emit card numbers. Emit-card rental is 4€ /day or 15€ /week. The rent shall be paid when registrating. When picking up the Emit card, a 50 € debit will be charged. This will be paid back when returning the Emit back to Info. The rented Emit cards can be picked until 11.7. at 10 pm from Event Centre Info and after that from Info in Competition Centre.

Registration to Open Classes and Rastiralli only in Competition Centre.

Elite classes
For the classes H21E a maximum of 80 competitors and for D21E a maximum of 60 competitors will be chosen. For the classes H/D20E, H/D18E and H/D16E a maximum of 50 competitors per class will be chosen. The rest will be placed in a class nearest to the one they have registered into. Finnish competitors will be qualified according to their www-ranking standings on 15th June 2010. Foreign competitors are chosen on the basis of IOF Word Ranking and placements in international as well as national competitions. The participants to the elite classes are chosen primarily among the participants who have registrated to the whole week. The starting order of the 5th competition is defined according to the results in the four previous races and will be a chase start.

Open classes
There will be 7 different classes daily with variation in distance and difficulty of the course (look at the classes and distances). The Open K will be very easy orienteering along paths and forest and village roads. In addition, on Thursday, there will be a long, physically demanding course with mass start: The registration to all Open classes in Competition Centre.

Children's Open course, Rastiralli (Hippo-Rastiralli)
Rastiralli is a marked-out orienteering course especially designed for small children. On every day there is a course of 0,5-2 km for the Rastiralli class. A charge of 4€ per day, is charged for Rastiralli.

Child care
There will be child care in Competition Centre. Child care is for children over 1 year old. The pre registration to child care should be made to info@2010.fin5.fi before 29.6.2010. In registration you must give the following information: child’s name, age, the days in Child care, possible allergies if any, the parents’ name and mobile number. Those children who are not registered until 29.6. will be able to participate in Child care only if there are enough personnel. The daily price is 4 € and includes a light snack.

Prizes
On the Fin-5 Orienteering Week, prizes in the form of goods are given for all competitive classes according to final results of the week. Additionally, the winners of stages 1, 2, 3, and 4 are awarded.
After the finish line of the day 5, all competitors as well as participants in Open classes are awarded with a commemorative medal.
Among the participants of Open classes, two prizes per course are raffled off every day.

Parking
The car parking is on the fields close to the arena. Maximal walking distance will be less than 500 m. The parking fee for the cars and caravans is 25 €/week or 6 €/day and for buses 50 €/week or 16 €/day. The parking tickets are sold in Info. The parking fees are controlled when driving out from the Competition Centre. The car parking tickets for the whole week can be bought also in connection with registration. The parking tickets paid in advance are available in Event Centre Info until 11.7. 22:00 and after that in Competition Centre Info. It is not allowed to accommodate in Competition Centre and parking places.

Bus transport
Bus transport from Event Centre to Competition Centre will be arranged. The price of the bus ticket is 30 €/week and 7,50 €/day for adults and 20 €/week and 5 €/day for children under 15 years of age. The bus tickets are sold in Infos. The bus tickets for whole week can be bought also in connection with registration. The tickets paid in advance are available in Event Centre Info. The schedules of buses will be published later in Fin5 website and in the handbook. We recommend to use the bus transport.

The services in Event Centre
At least the following services are available in Event Centre: Info, floor bed accommodation, breakfast every day, lunch on Wednesday 14th of July, shower, toilets. Other services will be informed in Fin5 website.

The services in Competition Centre
In CC the following services are available: Info, restaurant, café, kiosk, Child care, shops, shower, cloth washing, toilets. Other services will be informed in Fin5 website.

Accommodation
There are different possibilities to accommodate during the Fin5 week. You can book the accommodation via Fin5 Office, or by email from info@2010.fin5.fi

Training
There will be training possibilities in terrains similar to competition terrain before and after the Fin5 week. More information about training possibilities will be available in Fin5 website during spring 2010.
